Wike Has Bet His Whole Job on Two States, and Honestly, We're Taking Notes
In a bold new approach to job security, the FCT minister has tied his resignation to two 2027 election results, giving aides, allies and calendar apps nationwide exactly one deadline to fear.

Gather round one more time, because Wike just did something only Wike can do: he stood in front of Apo Mechanics and Traders, looked at the cameras, and basically said "if Baba doesn't win FCT and Rivers in 2027, I will resign the very next day." Not "step back and reflect." Not "consider my position." He gave an actual date. January 17, 2027. Like a man setting a calendar reminder for his own unemployment.
Let's sit with the confidence required to do this. This is a minister publicly tying his entire career to an election result he does not fully control, in two places, one of which (Rivers) he used to govern and clearly still feels very attached to, like an ex you keep checking the WhatsApp status of. "FCT is where I work, Rivers is my state," he said, basically setting up his own two-strike policy against himself.
And then, as if that wasn't enough main character energy, he casually mentioned he's building a whole multi-party coalition in FCT, "Even people in PDP are supporting Tinubu," he said, like he's assembling an Avengers team but for one specific local election. Respect for the hustle, genuinely, but also: sir, nobody asked you to gamble your job on this, you chose violence voluntarily.
Here's the real gist though: statements like this are rarely just about accountability, they're pressure. On himself, yes, but also on everybody under him in FCT and Rivers to perform, deliver, mobilise, and not embarrass him come January 2027. Nothing motivates a political structure like your oga publicly saying, "if this fails, I'm gone," because suddenly everybody remembers they also don't want to be unemployed by association.
So now we wait. Either January 17, 2027 becomes the day Wike keeps a very specific promise, or it becomes the day we all quietly forget he ever said this, the way these things usually go. Either way, grab your popcorn early, because this one has an actual deadline attached, and that alone makes it rarer than Christmas rice at an owambe.

LP Says "Look at Otti" as Their Whole 2027 Pitch, and Honestly, Fair Point
Labour Party has unveiled its bold 2027 manifesto: “Please look at Abia.” Unfortunately, the Abia they’re pointing at is also waving politely at Tinubu, creating a political traffic jam even LASTMA would abandon.
