LP Says "Look at Otti" as Their Whole 2027 Pitch, and Honestly, Fair Point
Labour Party has unveiled its bold 2027 manifesto: “Please look at Abia.” Unfortunately, the Abia they’re pointing at is also waving politely at Tinubu, creating a political traffic jam even LASTMA would abandon.

Labour Party's presidential candidate, Sunday Chibuzo Okereke, just did something interesting: instead of running around making big promises nobody can verify, he went to Arochukwu, stood in front of the people, and basically said "Forget me, just look at what Otti has been doing in Abia, that's your proof." That's not a campaign slogan, that's a whole receipt being used as a manifesto.
And listen, it's actually a decent strategy, because unlike most political promises that live permanently in the "soon" category, Otti's Abia performance is something people can actually see and touch. Roads, reforms, that general "this governor seems to be working" energy that Nigerians rarely get to experience without side effects. So LP's pitch is basically: "you've seen what one Labour Party governor did with state power, now imagine the same energy at federal level." Smart. Mildly manipulative, but smart.
But then, in classic only-in-Nigeria fashion, here comes the plot twist: Otti himself has been out here saying, "Tinubu has the right to contest, and for now, he has my support," while also insisting he still has his own presidential candidate in the Labour Party. My brother, pick one confusion and stick with it. You cannot be the national leader of a party whose whole 2027 pitch is "vote for us because of Otti's record," while simultaneously giving soft endorsement energy to the man from the other party. That's not nuance, that's doing agbada and shokoto for two different parties at the same owambe.
Otti says it's not contradictory, that governance and party politics are "different lanes," that he can respect Tinubu's federal performance while still backing his own party's candidate. Okay oga, we hear you, but Nigerians have eyes, and eyes don't do "different lanes" eyes just see one man hugging two political camps and trying to explain the geometry.
So here's where we are: LP is building 2027 around Otti's Abia report card, while Otti is simultaneously praising the man LP is supposed to be running against. If this is strategy, it's advanced. If it's confusion, it's very Nigerian. Either way, we'll be watching to see which lane eventually wins.
