"No Room for Glitches," Adebayo Tells INEC, and Honestly, We Felt That in Our Spirit
Adebayo has warned INEC that 2027 is not the year for “technical glitches,” especially the type that arrive exactly when the results start developing plot twists. Nigerians, having watched this episode before, are simply asking the portal to behave like it has home training.

SDP's Adewole Adebayo used his Independence Day message to deliver what can only be described as a formal, pre-emptive warning to INEC, basically saying: "Don't you dare try that 'technical glitch' excuse again in 2027." And listen, as someone who has personally watched a results portal "experience technical difficulties" at the exact moment things were getting interesting, we are fully here for this energy.
His exact words, that an excuse of a "technical glitch" in 2027 will be "totally unacceptable," hit different because we've all seen this movie before. The server is working fine all day, uploading results smoothly, everybody happy, then suddenly, right around the time one particular party starts "unexpectedly" leading, ah ahn, portal don hang. Loading forever. Try again later. And by the time it comes back, somehow the numbers have rearranged themselves as if nothing happened.
Adebayo didn't stop there sha, he also went after vote buying, telling Nigerians directly not to "sell your vote for a morsel of bread today only to suffer for the next four years," which, painful as it is, is also just facts. Somebody collects ₦15,000 on election day, feels like a small win, and then spends the next four years explaining to themselves why fuel, garri, and transport fare all tripled anyway.
And INEC itself isn't exactly sitting quietly either; their own chairman has been talking about activating "intelligence operations" against vote buying because apparently the whole thing has evolved past polling units now. These people have upgraded their own operations while we're still here hoping ours upgrades too.
So here we are again: candidates warning INEC, INEC warning vote buyers, civil society warning everybody, and the rest of us just sitting back like "please somebody actually do something before January 2027, not just tweet about it."
Because at this point, Nigerians don't want promises of a credible election. We want to actually witness one complete the full 90 minutes without a mysterious injury-time "glitch" changing the final score.
