Excitement swept across Lagos this week after the state government unveiled a $5,000 grant for young entrepreneurs, prompting thousands of youths to immediately rediscover business ideas they had quietly abandoned sometime between fuel subsidy removal and their landlord's latest rent increase.

Within minutes of the announcement, Google searches for "How to write a business proposal" reportedly increased by 4,000%, while Canva experienced a sudden surge in professionally designed pitch decks titled "Revolutionising Africa Through Innovation."

The announcement has also inspired thousands of young Lagosians to transform hobbies into startups overnight. Tailors became fashion-tech founders. Food vendors became culinary innovators. People who sell perfumes on Instagram now describe themselves as "fragrance ecosystem entrepreneurs."
