The weekly quiz
The prize is real. Our news stories are satire — they are invented, and none of them are true. This quiz is not. The ₦10,000 is real money, paid to a real person, every week.
The quiz is open to residents of Nigeria aged 18 or over. Staff of The Kulture Company Ltd, and their immediate families, are not eligible to win. Entry is free — you never have to pay anything to play or to claim a prize.
A new quiz week opens every Monday at 00:00 (WAT) and closes on Friday at 00:00 (WAT). Within each week there are three rounds of ten questions:
Each round is available only on its own day, from 00:00 to 23:59 (WAT). If you miss a day, that round is gone — you can still play the remaining rounds, but those ten points are no longer available to you. Thirty points are available across a full week.
Every question is drawn from an article published on this site, and each question links to the story its answer comes from.
You enter once per week by giving your name, email address and Nigerian mobile number. You may then play each day’s round once. Entries are matched on your phone number and email address, so entering again under a different name, a variant of your email address, or on a different device will not give you a second entry.
Attempting to enter more than once — for example with several phone numbers — may result in all of your entries being disqualified.
Each round is timed. The clock starts when the questions are shown to you and stops when you submit, and it is measured on our servers, not in your browser. If you start a round and do not submit it before that day ends, it scores zero.
When the week closes on Friday at 00:00 (WAT), scores are locked and the leaderboard is final. The winner is the entrant with:
One winner receives ₦10,000 per week. Which answers you got right is revealed after the week closes — not before — so that answers can’t be shared while the quiz is still running.
The winner is contacted on the phone number and email address given at entry, and announced the following Monday alongside the new quiz. The ₦10,000 is paid by bank transfer or mobile money to the winner within seven days of the winner confirming their details.
If a winner cannot be reached within seven days of the announcement, or does not meet the eligibility conditions above, the prize passes to the next eligible entrant on the leaderboard.
Your name, email address and phone number are used to identify your entry, prevent duplicate entries, and contact and pay you if you win. Only a shortened form of your name (for example “Ada O.”) appears on the public leaderboard. Your email address and phone number are never shown publicly. See our privacy policy for how we handle personal data.
We may disqualify any entry where we have reasonable grounds to believe there has been duplicate entry, automated play, or any other attempt to game the leaderboard. Our decision on the outcome of a week’s quiz is final.
We may change these rules or suspend the quiz. Any change takes effect from the start of the next quiz week and will not affect a week already in progress.
