ACF Says They Want To "Check" Tinubu's School Records, Nigeria Asks If This Is A New Term

So apparently the Arewa Consultative Forum has entered the group chat and said, "hold on, before 2027 comes, can we just… confirm say the man actually attended school?" And just like that, the whole country dropped what it was doing to argue about a WAEC result from the last century.

Now, everybody knows this particular gist is not new. Every election cycle, like clockwork, somebody remembers there's a certificate somewhere that nobody has personally seen, and suddenly it's the most important document in Nigerian history, more important than the budget, more important than the naira, more important than that bridge they keep "commissioning."

ACF says this is about transparency. Nigerians say okay, but which transparency? The one where nobody checks anything until election season, then everybody suddenly becomes a forensic auditor? Because if we're doing transparency, some people have other documents they should also be bringing out, starting with receipts for where the last budget disappeared to.

Meanwhile, Aso Rock has said nothing, which in Nigerian politics means one of two things: either it's beneath a response, or somebody is currently searching a filing cabinet somewhere in Bourdillon.

The real comedy is that this will run for maybe two weeks, TV panels, Twitter Spaces, one senator will say something dramatic about "constitutional requirements," another will remind everyone that this same question came up in 2022 and 2023 and somehow the certificate always resurfaces right before it matters and disappears right after, and then, like every other national emergency, it will be quietly filed under "things we were very angry about for a short time" and forgotten by the time fuel price wahala comes back to remind us who's really in charge.

Because in Nigeria, no qualification is ever permanent, the ability to survive one scandal, then wake up the next morning to a brand new one.
